I live in New England and have been using my new Canon 5D MK IV to shoot autumn foliage over the past few weeks. When processing my old Canon 5D MKIII images in Lightroom, I often had issues with the colors and contrast generated by the Adobe Standard profile. To my eye, the reds were too orange, and the yellows were muddy. I usually got somewhat better results by using the Camera Standard profile instead. Often I would still find myself fiddling with HSL color adjustments and contrast, no matter which profile was used. So when I acquired the 5D MK IV, I decided to buy an XRite Color Checker Passport and create a custom profile for my MK IV. Well, I'm really glad that I did. Canon 5d Mark Ii VideoI made a custom profile for overcast light and applied it to this image of autumn foliage. The images below are with the Adobe Standard profile, the Camera Standard profile, and the Custom profile. No other adjustments have been made to these images other than correcting white balance for a blue cast by clicking the eyedropper on a grey tree trunk (the same white balance is used in all 3 images). To my eye the custom profile is significantly better than the Adobe Standard, and more pleasing than the Camera Standard profile. I know essentially the same look can be created by tweaking Lightroom sliders.
